Online Master of Legal Studies Admission

There are two opportunities to begin the online Master of Legal Studies program each year: fall and spring.
Although applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, applicants are encouraged to submit as early as possible to ensure adequate time for review. Applicants can expect to receive an admission decision via email 7–10 days after submitting a completed application.
The following materials are required for admission:
Undergraduate transcripts
Prospective students may apply with unofficial transcripts, but admitted students must submit official transcripts before registering for courses.
SMU Dedman School of Law does not accept official electronic transcripts sent by students. Students may request that their institution sends official electronic transcripts to gradappmaterials@smu.edu.
Hard copy official transcripts may be mailed by the institution to:

Letters of recommendation
Two letters of recommendation and at least one reference are required. Please provide an email and phone number for the reference.
Personal statement
Students may submit a 2-3 page written personal statement, or they can submit a 3-5 minute video personal statement.
Application fee ($75)
The applicant fee will be waived for applicants who submit by the priority application deadline.
