Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Both the business and compliance law concentrations offer valuable skills applicable across a range of industries. Choosing a concentration depends on your specific career goals and professional interests.

The compliance law concentration is ideal for professionals working in highly regulated sectors such as finance, healthcare, insurance and energy, as well as those in ethics and compliance roles across industries.

The business law concentration is well-suited for current and aspiring managers. It provides a broad foundation in legal concepts that are critical to business leadership, including employment law, intellectual property, negotiations and internal investigations.

While human resources and employment law shares meaningful common ground with compliance law, the key difference is that HR and employment law is people-focused; compliance law is regulation-focused.

Human resources and employment law centers on the legal aspects of managing people in the workplace, including labor laws, discrimination, hiring practices and internal investigations. A concentration in this area is ideal for HR professionals and managers who handle employee relations and compliance with employment regulations.

Compliance law centers on how organizations follow external regulations and internal policies, covering areas like corporate ethics, risk management and regulatory oversight. This concentration is designed for professionals in highly regulated industries or roles focused on organizational accountability.
